I Feel Real New York-ish.
Like, I’m from “the block” in this look. I’m not sure what it is. Maybe it’s the lace-up bomber jacket or the Viki Leather Ugg Boots which slightly resembles Timbs but I feel like I look the part in this look.
I feel like the Dominican ladies at the laundromat will walk over to me and start speaking to me in their native tongue because they’re certain that I, too, am Dominican in this look.
I just feel like I fit in in this look. I nod back in acknowledgment in this look. I stop and two-step to Frankie Beverly and Maze blasting from the club speaker in this look.
I’m apart of the culture in this look.
The street boys yell “Hey Miss!” in this look. The seasoned citizens smile back and remember the times in this look.
I feel faux gansta in this look. I look like I don’t take no $hit in this like. Like, no fux given in this look.
I feel at home in this look.
Most of the times, I stand out and I’m 100% ok with that. In fact, I relish in the fact that I can walk any concrete runway, be a complete spectacle and totally own it.
However, sometimes it’s comforting to go about my day and just kind of fade into the scene instead of being the scene.
